No. 3

I feel like this might be my favourite topic so far, even though I know that I've only written three so far.   But still out of the three, I'm pretty excited to write about this topic.

Many people have a different definition of kindness, whether it's giving someone a shoulder to cry on, sticking up for someone when they're being mistreated, holding the door open for someone, or even just simply smiling at people as they walk by.  These are all very good definitions of kindness.

The actual definition of kindness, if you're wondering, is: "The quality of being friendly, generous and considerate".

So all the things that we listed before could be counted as kindness.

However old you are, kindness is still a big factor in your life, and how you treat people and how they treat you.  Being kind, or not, creates the image of who you really are, and how people really see you and it can have so many knock-on effects.

I really do believe in treating people how you'd want to be treated yourself, because something that you do to someone will effect them for a long time afterwards.   For example, smiling at strangers or giving someone a compliment, could make their day go from hard to a little bit easier.

People tend to remember the bad things that hapen much longer than the good, because of personal insecurity, meaning that they could fixate on a comment or action longer.  Maybe if you do more of the simpler acts of kindness, maybe the tiny negative comments that those people need to forget, will fade and be forgotten quicker..

REASONS TO BE KIND

1. Giving can make you feel good - self kindness is so important.

2. Remember that you don't know what's going on "behid close doors".

3. Increase your positive feelings - this improves friendships and reduces negative thinking.

I know that some of the things that I've written about, are probably obvious to most, but maybe not to all.  I hope that maybe by reading how simple these random acts of kindness are, many people will do more.
