NO.5

As summer comes to end we find ourselves with so many new opportunities coming into September. Whether it’s continuing on with school/college, going to uni or even getting a new job, we find ourselves quietly stressing as we realise we have to go back to working hard, or go back to studying and those early mornings! Many people may not actually realise how many new fresh starts or opportunities there are to come.

Don’t get me wrong, the thought of approaching year 13 is kinda scaring me and making me feel overwhelmed. But as I think about getting a second chance to re-sit the exams that I completely failed in year 12, I feel more glad that I have the opportunity to be there and competing for better grades.

I feel that starting anything new will inevitably make you scared. I mean for example new uni students, they're starting something completely new and having to rebuild everything again. Their social life and education, whilst also having to re-invent themselves all the while struggling to accept a new found independence.

When a new oppourtunity arises you may freak out, or even want to avoid it, but it’s just your thoughts biggin’ it up to be this scary event. As soon as you complete that new big opportunity, all of your worries go away as quickly as they came.

Obviously, you may have had experiences that didn’t go so well, or turned out as good as you had imagined that they might (which can really suck and be really disappointing). However, trying something out and seeing if it’s for you, is maybe better than never knowing at all!!! After all its the experiences that we have in life that shape our future selves.

Maybe it’s better to know for sure how the experience feels rather than always wondering if you could have ever stuck with it.

I've touched on this issue before, but I don’t think that I really emphasised that giving something a go and not enjoying it, can be sometimes better than not trying at all.

Remember this - You have everything to gain, and nothing to loose!

New opportunities can be overawing and a scary prospect. When everyone’s focus is on the negative outcomes, we often don’t spend enough time considering the positive benefits of just “Giving It A Go!”.
